Thank you for reading this and hopefully (no definitely) donating!!

First off let me introduce myself, not that this event is about me, it’s for Alec but if I was donating I wouldn't like to donate to someone I don’t know. This title is slightly misleading as I am not very tough; I am a girl who studies engineering, love playing netball and heard about this beautiful 11 year old boy two years ago (wow time sure does fly fast), named Alec who has the unfortunate luck of having a rare disease with no cure.

It turned out Alec is close friends with my cousins so about halfway through last year my Aunty asked if I would like to join his amazing journey and become part of the team. We are competing in the Tough Mudder obstacle course to raise funds to support much needed research for a cure. Tough Mudder is a 16-km mud soaked obstacle course. This course represents Alec’s life; the various obstacles pushing him back, the knowledge of heading into another challenge that will be even tougher than the one before and the feeling of joy when you complete one obstacle, with the help of an amazing team.

For those of you still reading we’re about to get down to the hardest part of this; Alec’s disease. Alec has Sanfilippo type C which is a progressive disorder that primarily affects the brain and spinal cord. Most people with MPS III usually live into their late teens or early twenties. As Alec grows older simple skills such as walking, talking and eating will slowly be taken from him. This has already begun with him losing his ability to communicate effectively.

Currently there is no cure to this life sucking disease so any donation of yours, even just 5 cents is more than what we started with and will go towards finding a cure. Better yet if you would like to join our team, we still have plenty of room with a discounted price so just email hopeforalec@yahoo.com.au or contact Michelle Morrice via Facebook messenger!!
