Kerri's Brisbane Trail Ultra run for Alec 2109

This is Alec and me celebrating our birthday. Alec and I are born on the same day and I’m so privileged to have spent the last few with him. Every birthday for Alec and his family, every extra year of life, is so treasured and special because he has Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes fatal brain damage. It is referred to as a childhood disease because most patients never reach adulthood. Alec has the ultra-rare strand of Sanfillipo, Type C, which occurs in only 1 in 1.5 million births.
This is why I'm running 30km in the Brisbane Trail Ultra Run because every dollar we can raise will go 100% towards funding vital research projects that show potential to halt disease progression; repair damage caused by the condition; or improve the quality of life for children suffering from Sanfilippo. It will bring hope to their parents and families and allow them to celebrate more birthdays.
